Apostille Document Preparation in New York

Business Presentation Illustration

When submitting official documents overseas, many foreign governments require an apostille — a form of international certification that verifies your notarized document is authentic and legally recognized in Hague Convention countries.

At Net Notary NY, we help notarize eligible documents that you may submit to the New York Department of State for apostille certification.

What is an Apostille?

An apostille certifies that your notarized document is valid for use in another country that is part of the Hague Apostille Convention.

This is commonly required for:

  • International adoptions
  • Marriages or divorces filed abroad
  • Dual citizenship or naturalization
  • University or academic credential validation
  • Cross-border power of attorney
  • Global business registration

What We Provide (and What We Don’t)

We do not issue apostilles ourselves. What we do is ensure that your document is notarized correctly according to New York State law so that it can then be submitted to:

New York Department of State, Division of Licensing Services
Apostille Unit

How to Prepare Your Document for Apostille

  1. Start with a notarized document — click “Start Notarization” on our homepage
  2. Make sure it's intended for international use
  3. We will notarize it using our NYS e-notary commission
  4. You submit the notarized file to the state for apostille processing

More details on submission can be found at dos.ny.gov/apostille
